Upper Saloum
Upper Saloum is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative divisions - the West African nation of Gambia. It is one of ten districts in the Central River Region.
According to a calculation by 2013 there live about 18 817 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 15,970.
The name is derived from Saloum, a former small kingdom.

According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest ethnic group of the Wolof with a share of about six -tenths, followed by the Fula and Mandinka to.
