Václav Varaďa

Vaclav Varada ( born April 26, 1976 in Vsetín, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Ocelari Třinec in the Czech Extraliga since August 2010.

Career

Vaclav Varada began his career as a hockey player at youth level of HC Vitkovice, for the first team he in the 1992/93 season his debut in the last season of the highest Czechoslovak ice hockey league, the first league was. In the following season, the attacker scored 15 points scorer in 29 games, after which he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in the fourth round as a total of 89 players from the San Jose Sharks, for which, however, he never played. Instead, he played a game each time in the Canadian Junior Football League Western Hockey League for the Tacoma Rockets and their successor team, the Kelowna Rockets. During this period, the San Jose Sharks transferred the Czechs to their league rivals Buffalo Sabres, for he first time in the National Hockey League was in the 1995/96 season on the ice.

For Varada Buffalo played in the next eight years regularly in the NHL, where it is parallel to their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Rochester Americans aground, in his first three seasons with the franchise of the Sabres. On February 25, 2003 Links shooter was transferred together with a fifth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 in exchange for his compatriot Jakub Klepiš to the Ottawa Senators. With the Senators, he reached in the season 2002/ 03 right off the bat the finals for the Stanley Cup, in which he narrowly lost the New Jersey Devils with his team with 3:4 victories. For Ottawa, he was a total of three and a half years active, he bridged the lockout during the 2004/ 05 NHL season with his former club HC Vitkovice Steel in the Extraliga.

In summer 2006, Varada signed with HC Davos of the Swiss National League A, with which he first won the Spengler Cup, and then the first and only time in his career the Swiss Championship. Following this success, the winger moved to the league rivals SCL Tigers, for whom he scored a total of 32 points scorer in 37 games. In the season 2008/ 09, the two -time world champion was back at HC Vitkovice Steel under contract before he was loaned out in November 2009, after 19 games of the season 2009/10, the HC Kometa Brno.

In August 2010, he switched from HC Vitkovice HC to Ocelari Třinec. With this he won at the end of the 2010/11 season the Czech league titles.

Internationally

For the Czech Republic at the Varada Nahma U20 World Junior Championships in 1995 and 1996 and the World Championships in 2000 and 2005 in part. In addition, he is since 2007, since he plays in Europe, at the test internationals and tournaments of Euro Hockey Tour used.
