Villars -sur -Glane ( Freiburg Patois Vela -chu- Yanna? / I ) is a municipality in the District de la Sarine ( German Sarine district) of the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The German name Glane Wiler Wiler and at Matran today are no longer in use. Due to the proximity of the capital of the canton of Fribourg, Bern A12 -Vevey highway and the railway line Roman Horn Geneva, various industries have settled, and the population grew to more than 10,000 inhabitants. Geography

With 11,975 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) Villars -sur -Glane is the third largest municipality in the canton of Fribourg and most important suburb of the city of Freiburg. Of the 77.2 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking and 10.9 % 2.3 % speak Portuguese (as of 2000). History

Villars -sur -Glane can look back on a long tradition of settlement. The oldest archaeological finds date from the 7th century BC.
