Vladimir Malenkykh

Vladimir Jewgenjewitsch Malenkich (Russian: Владимир Евгеньевич Маленьких; born October 1, 1980 in Togliatti, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since July 2013.

Career

Vladimir Malenkich began his career as a hockey player with the HK Lada Togliatti, for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 1998 to 2005. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round in 1999 when a total of 157 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins, for which, however, he never played. Meanwhile, the defense was also in seven games for Togliatti League rivals ZSK WWS Samara on the ice. Before the season 2005/ 06 Malenkich moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk, with whom he subsequently won the 2005 Spengler Cup, and in 2007 for the first time in his career, Russian Champion. In addition, the right-handed shooter with Metallurg won the 2008 IIHF European Champions Cup, in which the final, he prevailed with his team's 5-2 victory over the Czech rival HC Sparta Prague.

In May 2011, he joined together with Yevgeny Varlamov to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and was in the following two seasons, to the root cadres of the team, before he returned in July 2013 to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
