Vysoké nad Jizerou

Vysoke nad Jizerou ( high German city on the Iser) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers south-east of Jablonec nad Nisou and belongs to Okres Semily.

Geography

The city is located west of the Giant Mountains right of Isertales on a saddle of iron Broder mountain country ( Železnobrodská Highlands ). By Vysoke leads the state road 290 from Kořenov to Nová Ves.

Neighboring towns are Hořensko, Sklenařice and Dolánky in the north, Jablonec nad Jizerou and Dolni TRIC in the northeast, Horni Tric in the east, Jilem and Poniklá to the southeast, Roprachtice in the south, Stara Ves, Jesenný and Roztoky u Semil the southwest, Stanový in the west and Počátky and Zlata Olešnice in the northwest.

History

The village was founded in the first half of the 14th century. First mention of it took place in 1352. On August 4, 1354, he was raised under the name Alta ciuitas to the city. The town was the property of the Steiner forest at Castle Nístějka and was the trading center of rule. In the area of gold and other metals have been promoted. The forest wealth led to the establishment of charcoal burning. In addition, a glassworks was established. Hochstadt soon acquired privileges, which reached up to the blood jurisdiction. During the fighting between Georg von Podiebrad and Matthias Corvinus to the Bohemian crown, the castle was destroyed Nístějka including Hochstadt. The castle remained desolate; High city lost its importance and sank to the market. During the Thirty Years' War Hochstadt suffered damage by Swedish troops.
