Wagenhausen is a municipality in the district of Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland.

Geography

Wagenhausen is located on the High Rhine. south-west of Stein am Rhein. It consists of four districts Wagenhausen, Kaltenbach, Etzwilen (holding station of the lake line ) and Rheinklingen (old name: Empire Lingen ).

Attractions

Worth seeing is the Wagenhausen provost on the Rhine, which was founded in the 11th century by Tuoto of Wagenhausen. On the early history of the monastery, the conflicts in the replacement of proprietary monastery system can be identified by the Hirsauer reform as an example. The former monastery church (today ref. Parish church ) was built around 1085 and since then has not changed, so it is one of the few original Romanesque churches in eastern Switzerland. Other special features of the Provost her bell belongs to the cast in 1291, it is one of the oldest still-functioning bell Switzerland.
