Waldmühlen

Waldmühlen is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rennerod.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald between Siegen and Limburg. The Wood Creek crosses the B 54 in the village.

History

The town was first mentioned as Walkmohle documented in the 15th century. If you want to explain the place name "Forest Mills ", one may conclude the present spelling on a "Forest Mill". The first roll-call mentions the place and the notations used in this case to give a better explanation. In old documents it says " from the Walckmohle " (1480 ), " Walckmühlen " ( 1524) and " Walckmüln " ( 1543). Only in 1752 the present notation will be used. So the earlier entries have a fulling mill, and thus towards the trade of wool weaver, whose cloth was fulled at the mill. Even in later years, the small town was south of Rennerod for regional cloth processing of meaning. 1787 one counts 72 cotton spinner and 1792, when Jakob Buchner here a Baumwollfaktorei. Although the said fulling mill was probably already fallen in 1592, put the place continues its tradition mill. 1653 Christian Sauer built a cutting mill, which was later operated as oil and flour mill. The place has seen many rulers since its creation. First, the Count of Nassau -Diez Lord were in the room Rennerod.
