The Washington Township is one of 12 townships in Carroll County in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Illinois.

Geography

The Washington Township is located in northwest Illinois on the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Iowa. The border with Wisconsin is located about 55 km north.

The Washington Township is located at 42 ° 09'50 " north latitude and 90 ° 10'11 " west longitude and covers 102.92 km ², it spread over 91.67 km ² land and 11.25 km ² water surface.

The Washington Township borders within the Carroll County on the east by the Woodland Township, to the southeast by the Mount Carroll Township, and on the south by the Savanna Township. In the north of the Washington Township Jo Daviess County is adjacent to the; on the opposite bank lies the Mississippi Jackson County, Iowa.

In the center of the township lies on the river banks of the Mississippi Palisades State Park. The extreme northwestern part of the township is occupied by the Savanna Army Depot, a former military training area, which is but for the most part in the neighboring Jo Daviess County.

Traffic
