William Kiernan

William Kiernan ( born April 2, 1908 in New York City; † November 19, 1973 in Los Angeles ) was an American production designer in film.

Life

William Kiernan was from 1943 as a production designer at Columbia Pictures under contract. By 1973 he was involved in more than 100 film productions. He worked with a number of notable directors as George Cukor, Fritz Lang, Edward Dmytryk, Robert Wise and William Wyler. Over the years, he has been nominated six times with different scene formers for the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction, inter alia, Pal Joey (1957 ) with Frank Sinatra and Rita Hayworth and gunboat on the Yangtze - Kiang ( The Sand Pebbles, 1966) with Steve McQueen. However, he could never win an Oscar. He died in 1973 at the age of 65 in Los Angeles.
