Wilson Kiprop

Wilson Kiprop (* July 14, 1987 in Soi, Uasin Gishu District ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner.

He is the oldest of seven siblings. Until 2005 he attended the School Kaptebengwet and used the condition that he acquired on the seven- kilometer-long route to school, in school competitions. After he left school because his family was broken and the school fees could no longer afford, he moved to Eldoret, where he worked as a construction worker for a daily wage of $ 1.5 and simultaneously continued his training. He won the first prize money at Cross runs for which the travel money he had to borrow the end of 2007. In one of these races, the manager Gianni Demadonna noticed him and signed him after he Kiprop had handed the collected newspaper clippings about his findings.

In 2008 and 2009 he won the Cross Country Cross della Vallagarina. In 2009 he won also the Euro Cross in Diekirch and was sixth at the Berlin Half Marathon. However, an injury that he incurred while training for his marathon debut, forced him soon to pause for the rest of the year.

The following year, an injury prevented him from starting at the World Athletics Championships 2011 in Daegu 10,000 m. In 2012 he finished fifth at the World 's Best 10K, and second in the Berlin Half Marathon.
