Yuraygir-Nationalpark

The Yuraygir National Park is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales, 523 km north of Sydney and 35 km east of Grafton.

The National Park stretches from the mouth of the Clarence River in the north to Corindi River in the south. The 60 km coast are the longest piece of coastline in New South Wales, which is still in its natural state. It consists of cliffs, rocky headlands, deserted beaches and estuaries. Inland you will find forests, heathlands, marshes and lagoons. It enjoys a warm, subtropical climate with an annual rainfall of 1250 mm, which falls mostly in the summer months. The temperatures are 20-26 ° C in January and at 9-20 ° C in June.

The Yuraygir National Park was created in 1980 from the merger of Angourie National Park and Red Rock State Park with some afforested, formerly agricultural land. The original land owners were the Aboriginesstämme the Gumbaingirr and Yaegl.
