Zbyněk Michálek

Zbynek Michálek ( born December 23, 1982 in Jindřichův Hradec, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who plays for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League since June 2012. His brother Milan is also ice hockey player and is available at the Ottawa Senators under contract.

Career

Zbynek Michálek began his career in the youth of the HC Becherovka Karlovy Vary, for whom he played in the season 1999/2000 in the U20 Extraliga. in the summer of 2000 he decided a change to North America and played in the next two years for the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec. In Shawinigan, he was one of the most offensive - defense, so that in 2002 he offered a contract at farm team of the Minnesota Wild was, although he was never drafted. In the following three seasons, he played very successfully in the American Hockey League and won with the Houston Aeros 2003 Calder Cup. In the season 2003/ 04 he made his debut in the NHL for Minnesota and was used in a total of 22 NHL games.

In August 2006, Zbynek Michálek was transferred to Phoenix, who submitted his return, Erik Westrum and Dustin Wood to the Minnesota Wild. By 2010 Michálek played in Phoenix before joining as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

On June 22, 2012 it transferred these in exchange for Marc Cheverie, Harrison Ruopp and a third-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the Phoenix Coyotes.

Internationally

Zbynek Michálek has participated in three world championships in his career, at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
