Carter Bassett Harrison

Carter Bassett Harrison ( * 1756 in Charles City County, Virginia; † April 18, 1808 in Prince George County, Virginia ) was an American politician.

Harrison was born in 1756 as the son of Benjamin Harrison. He was an older brother of future President William Henry Harrison ( 1773-1841 ). He attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg. 1784-1786 and 1805-1808 Harrison was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Between 4 March 1793 and 3 March 1799 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the state of Virginia. In the third congress he was in opposition to the federal government under Presidents George Washington and John Adams ( Anti- Administration Group), after which he became a member of the founded by the future President Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party. Harrison died on April 18, 1808 in Prince George County.
