William Lee Ball

William Lee Ball ( * January 2, 1781 in Lancaster County, Virginia; † February 29, 1824 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1817 and 1824 he represented the state of Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Ball attended the public schools of his home. Over his career beyond politics nothing is handed down. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic- Republican Party. In the years 1805 and 1806 and again from 1810 to 1814 he sat in the House of Representatives from Virginia. After that he belonged until 1817 to the State Senate. During the British - American War of 1812 he was paymaster in a regiment of Virginia.

In the congressional elections of 1816 Ball was elected the ninth constituency of Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of John Pratt Hungerford on March 4, 1817. After two re- elections he could remain until his death on February 29, 1824 in Congress. Since 1823 he represented there as a successor of Burwell Bassett 13th district of his state.
