Herbert H. Bateman

Herbert Harvell " Herb" Bateman ( born August 7, 1928 Perquimans County, North Carolina; † 11 September 2000 in Leesburg, Virginia ) was an American politician. Between 1983 and 2000 he represented the state of Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Herbert Bateman attended the public schools in Virginia. In 1945, he graduated from Newport News High School. Then he studied until 1949 at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg. Between 1951 and 1953 he served at the time of the Korean War in the Air Force. After a subsequent law degree from the Georgetown University in Washington DC and his 1956 was admitted to the bar he began to work as a partner in a community practice in this profession.
