Robert Hurt (politician)

Robert Hurt ( born June 16, 1969 in New York City ) is an American politician. Since 2011 he represents the state of Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Robert Hurt attended the Episcopal High School in Alexandria ( Virginia) and thereafter until 1991, the Hampden - Sydney College. After a subsequent study law at Mississippi College in Jackson and in 1995 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. In the meantime, he was deputy prosecutor in Pittsylvania County. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. In the years 2000 and 2001 he was a councilor in Chatham. From 2002 to 2008 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Virginia; between 2008 and 2010 he was in the state Senate.

In the congressional elections of 2010, Hurt was in the fifth electoral district of Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of him previously defeated Democrat Tom Perriello on January 3, 2011. In Congress, he is a member of the Finance Committee and two subcommittees.

Robert Hurt is married and has three children. The family lives in Chatham.
