Gattendorf, Austria

Husband's village is a municipality with 1234 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Burgenland in the district of Neusiedl am See in Austria.

The Hungarian name of the village is GATA, the Croatian Rauser.

Geography

Husband's village is the only place in the community.

History

The place was like the rest of Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary). Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name Gata. After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations. The place belongs since 1921 to the newly founded State of Burgenland (see also history of Burgenland ).

Was first documented in 1209 as a village husband " Kata " in the boundary description of Csallo. In the municipality but was already in 1146 a wooden chapel. There is, after the battle of the ten year old Hungarian King Géza II, son of Béla II, have been made fortified. 1264 the place of border guards for the Hungarian Gyepűsystem was settled, which were confirmed in 1339 by King Charles I in their old rights. As a result, the place often changed the owner or belonged to several landlords at the same time. Of these, the most significant gender were the masters of Rauscher. During their manorial Croats were settled in the village in 1550. Later, the place of the Esterházy family belonged. After the abolition of interest and robotic performances, the remaining owned by the Esterházy family farm village husband came to the family Czell, in whose possession it still is today.

Husband's village lost at the beginning of the 20th century his Croat majority; up to the present is also the Croatian-speaking minority if at all - only to isolated spokesman melted together (percentage of Croats in the total population - 1910: 36.5 % 1934: 29.8 %, 1951: 5.0%, 2001: 1.2%).

The village communities husband, Neudorf and Potzneusiedl in 1971 by merging the municipality Gattendorf -Neudorf. After separation of the municipalities on 1 January 1990 each regained their self-reliance and the community spouse regain their village self-government.

The distribution of seats (19 seats) in the municipal council is 9 SPÖ, ÖVP 8, FPÖ 1 and List Gattendorf ( LIGA ) 1 mandate.
