Julia Brownley

Julia Brownley ( born August 28, 1952 in Aiken, South Carolina) is an American politician. Since 2013, it represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Julia Brownley studied until 1975 at the George Washington University political science. Then she attended until 1979, the American University, also in Washington DC She then worked for several companies in the marketing sector. Between 1994 and 2006 she served on the school committee of the city of Santa Monica; 2006-2012 she sat as a Member in the California State Assembly. There she was a member of six committees.

In the congressional elections of 2012 Brownley was elected in the 26th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where they became the successor of David Dreier on January 3, 2013. In the election, she received 52.7 percent of the vote. On her Republican opponent Tony Strickland accounted for 47.3 percent. In Congress, she was a member of the Veterans Committee.

Julia Brownley has two grown children and lives in Oak Park privately.
