Malabar is a town in Brevard County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,757 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Malabar is adjacent to the cities of Palm Bay, Grant - Valkaria and is located on the Intracoastal Waterway in close to the coast of the Atlantic. The city is located about 60 km south of Titusville, and 110 km southeast of Orlando.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,757 inhabitants distributed to 1,239 households. The population density was x inh. / Km ². 91.7 % of the population were white, 3.9 % African American, 0.5% Native American and 0.9 % Asian Americans. 0.6 % were members of other ethnic groups and 2.4% in different ethnic groups. 4.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 32.5 % of all households lived in 25.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 71.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.45 persons and the average family size was 2.87 persons.

20.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 13.4% were 20-39 years old, 38.2 % were 40-59 years old and 27.9 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 50 years. 52.3 % of the population were male and 47.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 63,672, while 8.3% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100 % of the population.
