Use

U 122 was given on 27 May 1916 in contract, expired on December 9, 1917 at Blohm & Voss in Hamburg from the stack and was put into service on May 4, 1918. The boat was assigned to the First U- Flotilla in Helgoland and Brunsbuttel. First and only commander was Lieutenant Alfred Korte.

U 122 led during the First World War by a company in the eastern North Atlantic. It sank on October 18, 1918 north-west of Ireland to the Icelandic fishing trawler Njordur with 278 GRT.

Whereabouts

After the armistice, U 122 was delivered on 26 November 1918 the United Kingdom. When transferring drive to Abwrackplatz the boat ran aground in 1921 at the British east coast and was scrapped.
