SM U-43 (Germany)

SM U 43 was a diesel-electric submarine of the German Imperial Navy during the First World War.

U 43 was launched on September 26, 1914 at the Imperial Shipyard in Gdansk from the stack and was put into service on April 30, 1915. The commander of the submarine were the order of Hellmuth Jürst, Waldemar Bender and John Kirchner.

In many operations, the commanders and their crews made ​​44 sinkings against merchant ships of the Entente and neutral states with a total tonnage of 116,590 GRT.

Whereabouts

U 43 came through the war without being sunk. On January 20, 1919, the submarine was delivered to the UK and scrapped in 1922 in Swansea.
