1973 CONCACAF Championship

The CONCACAF Nations Cup 1973 was the sixth playout of the continental championship in football for North, Central America and the Caribbean was held from November 29 to December 18 in Haiti instead. It was played exclusively in the capital Port -au -Prince, Stade Sylvio Cator in. The six participants played in the past in a simple League Round FFA tournament winner.

For the first time the tournament was considered as qualifying for the World Cup. Since the CONCACAF received only a starting place, only the tournament winner Haiti was qualified for the FIFA World Cup 1974 in Germany.

Qualification

The 14 registered teams were divided into four groups of two teams and two groups of three teams. The teams played against each other with return game and the winner of each group qualified for the tournament.

Jamaica Jamaica withdrew his application, thus the Netherlands Antilles Netherlands Antilles in 1959 qualified automatically for the tournament.

Both home games of Dutch Guiana were carried out as away games.
