1977 CONCACAF Championship

The CONCACAF Nations Cup 1977 was the seventh playout of the continental championship in football for North, Central America and the Caribbean was held from October 8 to 23 held in Mexico. It was played at the Azteca stadium in Mexico City 's Estadio Tecnológico in Monterrey. The six participants played in the past in a simple League Round FFA tournament winner.

The tournament was the second time as a qualification for the World Cup.

Qualification

A total of seventeen CONCACAF member countries had registered for the competition. Honduras withdrew his participation back before the qualifiers. The remaining sixteen teams were divided into three zones, which are based on the geographical location of their nations:

North American zone

This zone had three teams playing in round-trip round against each other. The group first and second qualifying for the tournament.
