Background
As a result of the severe accident in the 24- hour race at Le Mans in 1955 in Switzerland, a ban was adopted for races, which to this day (as of 2013), there is no formula 1 race had more place in Switzerland since 1954. 1982 dealt to this prohibition, by thus led by the Grand Prix of Switzerland in Dijon, and on French territory. Training
For the ninth time this season qualified with Alain Prost a Renault driver for the pole position. Race
Due to health problems renounced Ferrari driver Patrick Tambay to participate in the race.
Although the Brabham pilots were regarded as favorites because of the new pit stop strategy of the team, initially dominated the Renault driver, with Prost in the second round took over the leadership of Arnoux. On Lauda and Patrese Piquet came over to the fourth round to third place forward, followed by Rosberg.
In the eleventh round Piquet reached the second rank he retained until the box was heading in round 40 to refuel, according to the a priori defined strategy, which was an innovation at the time. He returned as a fifth back on track. As Arnoux in the 74th round was initially slow and eventually retired, he came to fourth place. Since the organizers forgot to wave the checkered flag at the end of the race, Rosberg was driving a precaution another round before he could celebrate his first Grand Prix victory, which also earned him the lead in the world championship.
