1997 DFB-Ligapokal
The DFB - League Cup in 1997 was the second edition of a competition of this name in Germany, but from now can not be compared with the premiere of the competition 1972/73 in terms of the number of participants and the mode. Participants were the first six teams in the Bundesliga last season, including the DFB Cup winner VfB Stuttgart. FC Bayern Munich won by 2-0 against VfB Stuttgart in the final in Leverkusen and thus were second League Cup winner in history and the first winner of the competition under the new mode. Top scorer was Giovane Élber the winner Bayern Munich with two hits.
