2008–09 Israeli Premier League
The Ligat ha Al 2008/ 09 was the tenth season of the highest Israeli Football League under this name, and overall the 60th season. Since the league was increased in the following season to 16 teams, had only the table last stay in the league Leumit, the teams ranked one to five the second division rose directly. The Eleventh of the first league played against the sixth of the second division against relegation.
Maccabi Haifa won the championship.
Final Table
- Beitar Jerusalem were deducted two points before the season starts, and another due to racist behavior of fans at the game against Maccabi Petah Tikva on 18 April 2009. Moreover, the Club of the UEFA receives a license for European competitions next year.
Expulsion
The Eleventh of the first league played against the sixth of the second division, Maccabi Ahi Nazareth, to avoid relegation. Hakoah Amidar Ramat Gan lost and had to descend.
