2008–09 Ukrainian Premier League
The Premjer - Liha 2008/ 09 (Ukrainian Прем'єр - ліга ) was the 18th edition of the highest Ukrainian league in football. This season, the former Wyschtscha Liha got the new name Premjer - Liha. It started on 16 July 2008 with a goalless draw between Simferopol and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Tawrija and ended on 26 May 2009.
Titleholder was FC Shakhtar Donetsk. Naftowyk -Ukrnafta and FK Sakarpattja Uzhhorod relegated last season were replaced by the newly promoted Illitschiwez Mariupol and FK Lviv.
