2008 Vuelta a España, Stage 1 to Stage 11#Stage 10

The 10th stage of the Vuelta a España 2008 on September 9, led over 151.3 km from Sabiñánigo to Zaragoza. There are two intermediate sprints and a mountain stage of the second category were on the program.

On the right short leg came for the first time after 34 kilometers voltage, since the only climb of the day was taken. It came to a duel of the first in the mountains classification Moncoutie David and Juan Manuel Garate of third parties. The latter won the vote and thus ten points, while Moncoutie was third and got five points. After the summit, Matej Jurčo put down as a soloist and could temporarily pull a gap of up to seven minutes. However, he was powerless against the teams of the sprinters and was caught again. The mass sprint ended with a surprise: Sébastien Hinault secured the victory. Top sprinters like Tom Boonen or Óscar Freire won not surprisingly. By his third place in the daily standings and a second place at an intermediate sprint Greg Van Avermaet took the lead in the points classification.
