Race

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Alonso had the best start of the lead group. He moved past the only starting from second place Webber and tried to overtake Vettel in the first corner after that. However, Vettel claimed unlike last Grand Prix its leadership position and sat down in the first lap of Alonso. Behind the Ferrari driver were Webber and Massa. The fifth place was initially Vitaly Petrov, who was allowed to start for the first time ahead of his teammate Kubica. However, Petrov could not defend the fifth time and was overtaken after just one lap of Hamilton.

Already after a round had to Jaime Alguersuari, who previously made his debut a year in Hungary, to retire with a technical problem. At the top of Vettel round after round of his pursuers took off. Webber did not stop with him, since he could not overtake Alonso. This benefited from the fact that his Ferrari was on the straights faster than the Red Bull -Renault, which was clearly superior otherwise.

In lap 15 Liuzzi, who had lost part of his front wing on the racing line, a Safety Car period that influenced the race caused. First drove up to Webber, Barrichello and Trulli all pilots to the box. The leading Vettel succeeded at the last minute to go in the pit lane. In the pit lane, there were several incidents. On the one lost Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg his right rear wheel in the pit lane. The wheel jumped through the pit lane and injured a mechanic of the Williams team easily. Rosberg had to park at the end of the pit lane his race car. Another incident occurred when Kubica was sent back by his Renault pit crew and he doing with Adrian Sutil, who wanted to go in his box, collided. While the race for Sutil was terminated on the spot, Kubica first few laps, but had to give up a little later the race. Both Mercedes and Renault were occupied because of the threat to the security in the pit lane with a fine of 50,000 U.S. dollars.

Behind the safety car took over Webber, who was not on the box, the lead ahead of Vettel and Alonso. Hamilton took fourth place from Massa, as this had to first wait for the handling of his team Kollegens on the Ferrari pit. At the restart of the race, Vettel made a mistake. While Webber pulled away in front, heated Vettel, who had not yet realized that the safety car phase should be finished, his tires on. As a result, created a gap between Webber and Vettel in the later course of the race should find attention again.

After the restart Webber enlarged at the top of his lead and sat down on the rest of the field. Although Vettel could not keep up with Webber, but he managed to get ahead of Alonso. In lap 24 Hamilton had his race with technical problems end, and allowed a Red Bull drivers with a win to take the lead in the world championship. While Webber settled more and more at the top, the race stewards imposed a drive through penalty against Vettel, as he had left too large a gap to Webber at the restart. Vettel did not understand why he had been punished and complained during his pit drive-through show of hands. It was not until after the race, Vettel was clear what he had received the punishment. By punishing Vettel Alonso took second place behind Webber. Vettel came in third place ahead of Massa back on track.

In the next round, a similar picture as in the initial stages of the race found. In the first place it took a Red Bull driver, while the second Red Bull driver drove in third place behind Alonso and did not make it past him. Webber extended his lead further and completed his mandatory pit stop until he had enough of a lead on Alonso. So Webber kept the lead even after his pit stop and increased his lead again. Vettel, however, closed in the remaining 30 laps again and again to catch Alonso and put him under pressure, overtaking Vettel did not succeed.

While the positions were distributed to the top, it came in the back of the pack into an exciting duel between the two drivers with the most race: Barrichello and Schumacher. Barrichello had hesitated his pit stop for a long time and came out about 15 laps to go into the pits. With new tires, he completed relatively quickly to his former team-mate Schumacher, who was number ten on. After driving a few laps behind him, he attacked him on the start -finish straight. Schumacher defended his position on a hard way and pushed Barrichello almost into the wall. Finally, there was a change of position without a collision. After the race Barrichello complained loudly about the behavior Schumacher. The commissioners judged similar to the behavior of the Mercedes drivers and occupied him for the next race with a transfer back ten places on the grid.

Webber won in Hungary his fourth Grand Prix of the season and took the lead in the world championship of Hamilton, who fell back to second place.
