The Singapore Grand Prix 2010 took place on 26 September at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore and was the 15th race of the Formula 1 2010 season.

Background
After the Italian Grand Prix Mark Webber led the drivers' championship with five points ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso by 21 points ahead. Red Bull -Renault in the constructors' championship lead with three points ahead of McLaren -Mercedes and with 60 points ahead of Ferrari.
At Sauber - Ferrari, it came ahead of the Grand Prix for a driver change. Pedro de la Rosa was replaced by Nick Heidfeld, who last drove in 2009 the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi for the predecessor BMW Sauber team.
An hour before the first free practice also HRT -Cosworth announced a change of driver. Sakon Yamamoto was sidelined due to an alleged food poisoning. As it turned out a short time later, the real reason for the suspension was not food poisoning, but financial difficulties. The money from Yamamoto's mother, who financed the cockpit her son, was not arrived on time at HRT. Therefore reserve driver Christian Klien, who put the team sponsorship from Austria available got the car and played his first Grand Prix since the Italian Grand Prix 2006.
With Timo Glock, Heidfeld, Nico Hulkenberg, Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher, Adrian Sutil and Sebastian Vettel seven German drivers were at the start ( 29.17 percent), thereby creating a new record was set.
Rubens Barrichello played at the Singapore Grand Prix his 300th Grand Prix. Although he has already celebrated the anniversary two races before because he was not started in the 2002 season, however, to two races, he had completed 300 races until after the Singapore Grand Prix. Training
The first free practice took place under which dry conditions. The lap times were faster during the training and Webber posted the fastest lap ahead of Schumacher and Sutil. Fairuz Fauzy With the Lotus -Cosworth of Jarno Trulli and Jérôme D' Ambrosio at Virgin -Cosworth Lucas di Grassi two test drivers took part in the first free practice session. For D' Ambrosio was also the first part in a Grand Prix weekend at all. In the second session, there was a double leadership of the Red Bull -Renault. Vettel posted the fastest time ahead of Webber and Jenson Button. In the third free practice Vettel retained the top position ahead of Alonso and Hamilton.
Qualifying
The first phase of qualifying had to be interrupted after just nine minutes, as Felipe Massa, who had set no time had stopped on the track. Alonso, Massa's team-mate, the best time secured. In addition to Massa resigned from the HRT, Virgin and Lotus pilots. In the second segment Vettel posted the fastest lap. The Force India and Toro Rosso drivers and Heidfeld, Vitaly Petrov and Hulkenberg stepped down from. In the last section Alonso scored the fastest lap and secured the pole position ahead of Vettel and Hamilton.
Race
Alonso claimed the lead at the start by joining the line, so Vettel could not go past him. In the following rounds, he still went past Kamui Kobayashi and Schumacher. Behind Glock, however, rallied some vehicles which initially did not get past him. At the top of Vettel remained a few seconds behind Alonso. In the rest of the field, the two built their lead lap by lap from. In long-distance duel both went against Webber, whose series ended at overtaking behind Barrichello. While Alonso and Vettel after several rounds had the necessary ahead of Webber, McLaren was communicated to the pilots that they need to go faster, to stay ahead of Webber. After Trulli had given up on the box, the safety car had on track again. This was triggered by Kobayashi, who went into the barriers, when driving under the bleachers. From the following pilots Senna did not see the standing car and drove into the clean pure. A little later, the race was for Senna's team-mate Klien, who was faster than Senna the entire weekend, finished with technical problems.
In the safety car phase completed all pilots who were not yet on the box, their stop and the pilots came together. Thus, Webber finished on the third place on the leading pilots. At the restart, the lapped Virgin pilots were between the two leaders and the other pilots. When lapping attempt Webber did not come right over to Lucas di Grassi and lost time. Hamilton took the opportunity to pass by his opponent. Before the Memorial Corner he was just ahead of Webber. When turning into the curve, there was a collision between Hamilton and Webber. While Hamilton was eliminated, Webber drove on. One lap later, it came in the same trend to a further collision between Schumacher and Heidfeld. While Heidfeld retired after a collision with the wall, Schumacher had to change his front wing on the box.
Alonso could no longer be solved by Vettel and the distance remained at approximately one second at the top on the hard tires. Both pilots placed the each other under pressure and drove almost alternately the fastest laps and sector times. While most pilots drove through a stop, Robert Kubica had to change the tires one more time. With the new tires, however, he made some positions that he had initially lost, again good, because his opponents were driven partly almost the entire race with the same tires. Glock had the race after he initially held some pilots behind him twelve laps to give up on the box.
While Alonso and Vettel drove to victory, there was a yellow flag on the start -finish straight, as Heikki Kovalainen had stopped with his burning Lotus shortly after the finish line. The Finn finished the round at first and then got out of the car around it with a fire extinguisher to clear itself.
Finally, Alonso won the race ahead of Vettel and Webber. Alonso led the race consistently on, started from pole position and achieved the fastest lap. He thus succeeded in the first Grand Slam of his career. In places four to seven followed by Button, Rosberg, Barrichello and Kubica. Rosberg was again driven an unspectacular but effective race.
On the eighth to tenth place after the race, there was some rescheduling. First, Sutil was before Hulkenberg and Massa in eighth place. However, Sutil was given by the stewards a 20 -second time penalty, since he had shortened the distance in the first round. Thus Hulkenberg moved up to eighth place. Massa was in front of Sutil ninth. However, this result was not final as Force India protested against the penalty and file a complaint against Hulkenberg, who had as Sutil abbreviated the track early in the race lodged.
