The Grand Prix of Korea 2011 took place on 16 October at the Korean International Circuit in Yeongam, South Korea instead and was the 16th race of the Formula 1 2011 season.

Background

After the Japanese Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel led the drivers' championship with 114 points, ahead of Jenson Button with 122 points, ahead of Fernando Alonso. Vettel was ahead of schedule fixed as a world champion. Red Bull -Renault resulted in the constructors' championship with 130 points ahead of McLaren -Mercedes with 226 points ahead of Ferrari.

In Force India came before this Grand Prix to a change of the shareholders. The Indian company Sahara India Pariwar took 42.5% of the shares. Team boss Vijay Mallya reduced its share from 50% to 42.5% and the Dutch Mol family from 50% to 15%.

Training

In the first phase of qualifying Hamilton set the best time. Daniel Ricciardo did not return any time and thus failed at the qualification. He was subsequently admitted to the race. Beside him Liuzzi, the Virgin and Lotus drivers and Rubens Barrichello retired from. In the second section of Hamilton retained the leadership position. Vettel won the Grand Prix ahead of Hamilton and Webber. Vettel took over from second place starting in the early stages of the race the lead from Hamilton and then was always before him. Unusually for a Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel went unchallenged in the last lap of the race 's fastest lap of the race.

Red Bull -Renault decided in this race the constructors' championship ahead of itself.
