2012 Baltic Cup

The Baltic Cup 2012 was for the national football team between 1 and 3 June 2012 in Estonia. It was the overall 44th edition of the tournament in the Baltic countries, the Baltic Cup since their Erstaustragung in 1928.

This year Finland took part for the first time in the tournament. Unlike in previous years, was not " every man for himself " game, but a tournament with two semi-finals, a game for 3rd place and a Final held. The occasion for this was the explanation of the Latvian Football Federation to want to complete no more than two matches. On the Enter the Games in Tartu ( Tamme staadion ) and Võru were ( Võru staadion ). Estonia hosts played the semi-final against the Finnish selection for only the second time in his international match history in Tartu. The first time this was in 1997 against the Faroese national football team of the case. Finland went through a win against Estonia on to the final against Latvia. The Latvian national team had defeated in their semi-final match Lithuania. In the final, Latvia could decide the game 6-5 on penalties and thus win the overall title 21.
