Ragnar Klavan (born 30 October 1985 in Viljandi ) is an Estonian football player. His father Dzintar was also a professional footballer and national team of his country.
Career
Clubs
In his youth Klavan played at FC Elva and JK Viljandi Tulevik from his hometown. Here he made the leap to the first team and moved to FC Flora Tallinn, for whom he played one year and Estonian Champion in 2003. In August 2004 he signed a contract with the Norwegian first division side Vålerenga IF from Oslo, for which he was also only one year's activity. In August 2005 he went to the Netherlands to Heracles Almelo, where he played until 2009 95 league matches and scored four goals. From January to June 2009, he was loaned out by Heracles to the AZ Alkmaar and eventually sold to these in the summer of the same year. With Alkmaar Klavan in 2009 by Dutch masters.
For the 2012/13 season Klavan moved to FC Augsburg. He signed a two-year contract until 30 June 2014 and received the shirt number five. His league debut came on 14 September 2012 ( 3rd Round ) a 0-0 draw at home against VfL Wolfsburg Substitutes in 67 minutes for Matthias Ostrzolek. In November 2012, he was awarded the Estonian Footballer of the Year.
The 2012/13 season was very successful for Klavan. Apart from the achievement of the season goal, namely the non-relegation with the FC Augsburg, he played 30 Bundesliga games and was therefore unable to establish themselves in the interior defense of Swabia. In addition, he played two games in the DFB - Pokal, where the FCA failed in the second round at Bayern Munich.
Klavans dated to 30 June 2014 contract was renewed during the season 2013/14 due to a simplistic side option for a further year. On March 1, 2014 First Este, he scored against Hannover, 96 his first goal in the Bundesliga.
National
Since 2003, Klavan is Estonian national team. His debut for the Estonian national team he was on 6 September 2003 by the European Championship qualifier against Bulgaria.
Ragnar Klavan denied so far 90 matches and leads the national team for quite some time as a captain on the field, which shows the high status of Legionnaire in Estonia.
