Paul Verhaegh

Paul Verhaegh ( born September 1, 1983 in Sevenum ) is a Dutch football player.

Career

Association

He grew up in Kronenberg on at Venlo and began with five years at the VVV -Venlo play with the football. He moved in 1998 to the youth department of PSV Eindhoven, where he stood in the second team in 2002/ 03. In order to give him match practice lent PSV Verhaegh from the second division Movers AGOVV Apeldoorn, where he trained under former international Jurrie Koolhof. There he managed to immediately jump into the professional team and was a regular player. After one season at AGOVV the lending ran out. But Verhaegh did not return back to Eindhoven, but changed free transfer to FC Den Bosch. This was for the 2004/ 05 season fixed as rising stars of the Eredivisie. Also there managed Verhaegh to sit through, but could not prevent the immediate re descent. The following year was disappointing for the club and only seventh place was achieved in the Eerste Divisie in the end. The services Verhaeghs remained constant and so it came after two years in Den Bosch for a new change. In the summer of 2006, the defensive specialist signed at Vitesse Arnhem. After initial difficulties, he managed again to fight for a place in the starting XI and was a mainstay in the defensive network of black and yellow.

For the season 2010/11 Verhaegh was committed by the then German second division side FC Augsburg. He got there a contract until 2012, which has now been extended first until 2013 and until 2016.

National

For U -21 Football Championship in 2006 and U -21 Football Championship in 2007 Verhaegh was appointed to the cadre of U -21 in the Netherlands. Both times the team reached the final. 2006 could prevail there 3-0 against Ukraine. A year later, 4-1 against the selection of Serbia. In the 2007 tournament Verhaegh was the oldest player in the squad of Jong Oranje.

After the first two group matches were brought disappointing to end at Euro 2006, coach Foppe de Haan decided to take Verhaegh from the team. For him, Dwight Tiendalli slipped into the team. The following year he completed no single minutes.

2013 he was appointed by Bond Coach Louis van Gaal against Portugal for the first time in the Dutch national team. He made ​​his debut in the national team's colors in a friendly against Portugal on 14 August 2013.
