A2A SpA based in Brescia is the third largest energy company in Italy. The company was formed on 1 January 2008 by the merger of Azienda Elettrica Municipale, Azienda Milanese Servizi Ambientali and ASM Brescia. 2009 acquired A2A 43.7 % of Montenegrin power utility EPCG. 2012 sold its French subsidiary A2A A2A Coriancean the financial investor KKR for 76.5 million euros.

The company has a production capacity of 6.5 GW (2011 ) and sold in 2011 about 49 TWh of electricity and 5.6 billion cubic meters of gas.

With a share of 27.5 percent per the cities of Milan and Brescia are the main shareholders of A2A.
