Autogrill

Autogrill SpA is an Italian company in the field of catering and trade with a focus on highways and airports with company headquarters in Rozzano. As one of the largest listed companies in Italy Autogrill is part of the FTSE MIB.

History

Autogrill goes back to 1947 by Mario Pavesi founded company Pavesi, motorway restaurants operation. 1977 merged the Italian state holding company Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale (IRI), the company Motta, Pavesi and Alemagna to Autogrill. In 1993, the expansion began abroad with the acquisition of Les 4 Pentes in France 50 % and Procace in Spain.

1995 Autogrill was privatized, majority owner was the Benetton family. 1997, the shares were first listed on the Italian Stock Exchange in Milan. 1997/98, the internationalization of the acquisition Sogerba (France ), AC Restaurant ( Belgium and Netherlands) and parts of the Vienna Woods ( Germany and Austria ) was continued. 1999, the U.S. hospitality operators Host Marriott Services was taken over and expanded the business so that in the United States. 2001, with the acquisition of Passaggio Holding AG, the step to Switzerland. 2002 Receco arrived in Spain and SMSI Travel Centres Inc in the United States in the portfolio.

Activities

Autogrill operates restaurants and duty- free shops for travelers. The land used to be almost exclusively used on the basis of concession contracts, particularly on motorways and airports, as well as railway stations, shopping centers and fairs.

Autogrill has thereby a portfolio of over 350 different brands, including about 50 of its own (such as Autogrill, Spizzico, O'Conway 's Flatbreadz ) and over 200 under license, including Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Burger King and Haagen -Dazs.

The portfolio currently comprises around 5,300 stores in 1,200 locations in 43 countries. The Drink ( division "Food & beverage " ) makes 69 % of sales, trading and Duty -Free ( Division " Travel Retail & Duty Free" ) 31%.

Principal owner is Schematrentaquattro Srl, which owns 50.1 % of the shares, 40.3% are in free float. Schematrentaquattro part of Edizione Srl, the investment company of the Benetton family, which thus - indirectly - is the majority shareholder of Autogrill.
