Unipol

Unipol Gruppo Finanziario SpA is a financial group of companies with headquarters in Bologna. It was founded in 1963 and is mainly engaged in banking and insurance.

From about 2000, the company began to expand through acquisitions of other Italian insurance company. Among them, for example, were: the MEIE Assicurazioni, AURORA Assicurazioni, NAVALE Assicurazioni BNL Vita and MMI Group.

2003 Unipol acquired the divisions of the Swiss company Winterthur, which extended to the Italian insurance market. It has been around at that time around 6.5 million customers.

Which belongs to the group Unipolsai SpA is the second largest insurance company in Italy. It was created in 2013 from the merger of insurance companies Fondiaria- Sai with the Milano Assicurazioni, Unipol Assicurazioni and Premafin.
