Abraham van Riebeeck

Abraham van Riebeeck (* October 18, 1653 in the Cape Colony, South Africa today, † November 17, 1713 ) was from 1709 to his death in 1713, Governor-General of Dutch East Indies. He was also an explorer who operated several smaller and larger travel organizations in the East Indies.

After he had completed his studies in 1676, he became a merchant in the Dutch East India Company.

One of his children was Johanna Maria van Riebeeck (1679-1759), who married his predecessor Joan van Hoorn.
