Alan Wilder

Alan Charles Wilder ( born June 1, 1959 in London ) is an English musician, composer, arranger and producer. Wilder was known mainly as a member of the band Depeche Mode, moreover, he is head of the music project Recoil.

Life

Alan Wilder began at the age of eight years training at the piano, and later he took flute lessons. After leaving school he worked as an assistant in the DJM Studios in London's West End and played in several bands, including The Dragons and The Hitmen. He also helped as a studio musician, for example, for The Korgis.

As Depeche Mode in early 1982 a replacement keyboardist for the end of 1981 retired Vince Clarke sought and off an anonymous ad in Melody Maker, Wilder reported. First, he was hired as a supporting musician for gigs, the album A Broken Frame was still without his help. Shortly thereafter he was but fully integrated into the band. He immediately took over the major part in the studio, introduced innovative production techniques such as sampling and coined many years the typical Depeche Mode sound.

On 1 June 1995, however, Wilders 36th birthday, he announced his withdrawal from the then nearing the resolution bandwidth. He cited the lack of appreciation of his last work by the other band members. From then on he concentrated on his mid -eighties begun project Recoil.

After a few years it came back to a rapprochement between Wilder and his former bandmates. On February 17, 2010, he appeared on the occasion of the "Teenage Cancer Trust " project at the Royal Albert Hall after 15 years of separation, along with Depeche Mode for the song Somebody on. In 2011 he published the Remix In Chains by Depeche Mode on their new remix album Remixes 2: 81-11.

In addition to Depeche Mode and Recoil Wilder also served as a producer and remixer, for example, for the band Nitzer Ebb, whose album he co-produced Ebbhead.

Alan Wilder is married since 1994 with musician Hepzibah Sessa, who regularly participated since then in Recoil. They have two children. On the official Recoil website Wilder answered open numerous questions of his fans, regardless of whether Depeche Mode, Recoil, technical or private things.
