Alberto Schieppati

Alberto Schieppati ( born June 7, 1981 in Milan ) is an Italian former Alpine skier. His special discipline was the giant slalom. He reached the podium and seven top- 10 finishes in the World Cup as well as two top - 10 finishes at World Championships and a 15th place at the Olympic Winter Games 2006.

Career

Alberto Schieppati drove the first FIS races in the winter 1996/1997. After several podium finishes and his first victory in March 1999, he joined in December 1999 for the first time in the European Cup for use. He was able to score the first time in this series in February 2001, top - 10 finishes followed in 2002. Twice took Schieppati, whose strongest discipline was already from the start of the giant slalom at World Junior championships. He reached the seventh in 2000 and 2001, the sixth in his specialist discipline.

In the World Cup Schieppati launched exclusively in the giant slalom. He made his debut on December 9, 2001 in Val d'Isere and won a week later the first World Cup points with 15th place on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia - what was his best World Cup result for two years. In the 2003 World Cup in St. Moritz, he reached the eighth place. The first top- 10 finish in the World Cup scored Schieppati on 21 December 2003 with eighth place in Alta Badia. He finally reached the last giant slalom of the season 2003/2004 on 28 February 2004 in Kranjska Gora with the second rank behind the American Bode Miller his first and only World Cup podium, which he was twelfth in the giant slalom World Cup. The next winter he could not connect to these results. He was driving in any race into the top ten and fell back to rank 31 in the World Cup discipline.
