Anita (singer)

Anita Wagner, born Anita tensioner, ( born December 22, 1960 at Hartberg - Fürstenfeld ) is an Austrian singer.

Participation in the Euro Vision Song Contest

In 1984, the then relatively unknown Anita tensioner on the Austrian part of the preliminary round for Euro Vision Song Contest. By composed by Brigitte Seuberth and Walter Müller texted song Just somewhere she could clearly prevail over the second placed duo Gitti and Gary and thus won the ticket to Luxembourg, where her rival from the preliminary round, Gary Lux, was to be her backup singers. When Euro Vision Song Contest, she was much less successful with only five points - one from Ireland and four from Denmark - they ended up in last place among 19 participants.

After the competition

Despite the poor performance their competition entry was commercially very successful in Austria: he rose to the first place in the Austrian singles chart and stayed ten weeks in the top 20 Anita took on other boards, but did not make it back into the charts. In 1991, she again took part in the Austrian Trials and reached with the song land in sight seventh place out of ten participants.

Retreat from the music business

The mid- 1990s, the now married as Anita Wagner singer withdrew from the music business and since then focused on her career as a legal assistant. She has two children and lives in Oberdorf im Burgenland. In 2008 she returned to the stage.
