Aniwa Island

Aniwa is an island in the southeast of the island nation of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean and is one of the New Hebrides.

The almost 10 km ² island belongs to the province of Vanuatu Tafea. It is located 30 km northeast of Tanna, 43 km south-east of Erromango, their respective far larger neighboring island. From 1999 to 2009, the population increased by 424 from 341.

Aniwa is - unlike almost all the other islands of Vanuatu - not volcanic in origin, but an upscale Atoll; Therefore, the highest point is only 42 meters above sea level. The open to the northwest lagoon Itcharo Lagoon is located in the north of the island. It is about 2.0 kilometers long and one kilometer wide.

Ikaokao, the main town of Aniwa, located in the center, and Isavaï on the west coast. There are five villages:
