Antoine Roussel

Antoine Roussel ( born November 21, 1989 in Roubaix ) is a French ice hockey player standing since July 2012 with the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Antoine Roussel began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the Dragons de Rouen. From there he moved to Canada to Sagueneens de Chicoutimi, for which he was active in the Junior League LHJMQ 2006-2010. However, the defender was never drafted, but signed for the 2010/11 season as a free agent contract with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League. In parallel, he played 13 games for their cooperation partners Reading Royals of the ECHL. For the 2011/12 season he moved within the AHL to the Chicago Wolves. In July 2012, he has been endowed by the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League with a two-year contract.

His debut in the NHL gave Roussel on February 1, 2013 during the game against the Phoenix Coyotes, scoring also the first goal of his NHL career. He was only the eighth player born in France, who completed a game in the NHL.

Internationally

For France Roussel took part in the junior level at the U18 Junior World Championship Division I in 2006 and the U20 Junior World Championship Division I in 2009. In the senior level, he stood for the first time at the 2012 World Championships in the squad of his country.
