Arthur Zanetti

Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti ( born April 16, 1990 in São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo) is a Brazilian gymnast. His biggest successes are the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in the rings gymnastics and winning the world title in 2013 in the same discipline. Zanetti was the first gymnast from South America who could win an Olympic medal. At a height of 1.56 meters his competition weight is 61 kilograms.

Life

Arthur Zanetti is the son of Arquimedes Zanetti and his wife Roseane and grew up with a brother. He began in 1997 with the gymnastics. Six years later he devoted himself first international competitions. 2007 Zanetti became a member of the Brazilian national team turn the seniors.

International Zanetti first appeared at the World Gymnastics Championships 2007 in Stuttgart in appearance. With the Brazilian team by Diego Hypólito he did not get beyond a 17th place. Also Zanetti did not reach a final equipment. At best he cut with number 57 on the rings from ( 14,750 points). In the following years, Zanetti developed into a specialist for rings gymnastics. The World Gymnastics Championships 2009 in London, he was able to qualify for the finals for the first time in this discipline. He missed the victory of the Chinese Yan Mingyong ( 15.675 points) with 15.325 points, a medal and finished together with the Romanians George Stănescu a shared fourth place. With the Brazilian team Zanetti reached 13th place in the team competition. In November of the same year he won the World Cup in Croatia Osijek on his parade unit fourth. At the next World Cup in Stuttgart little days later, Zanetti had on rings only the reigning Olympic champion Chen Yibing beaten from China and won silver. In May 2010, the Brazilian came into existence, where he took a sixth place respectively at the bottom and the rings at the World Cup in Moscow. Previously, he had achieved a fourth place on the rings at the International Tournament in Paris.

2011 was by then to Zanetti's most successful year. In the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China, he won the gold medal on the rings. The biggest success in his best discipline followed just two months later at the Gymnastics World Championships in Tokyo. After 13th with the team Zanetti reached Rings preliminaries with 15.533 points, second place and thus the youngest Turner the apparatus finals. There succeeded him to improve to 15,600 points and win behind Chen Yibing ( 15,800 ) with silver his first World Championship medal in his specialty device. In the Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan Zanetti could successfully defend his title and won with 15,875 points clear before Denis Abljasin from Russia ( 15,550 points) and Ihor Radiwilow from Ukraine ( 15.525 points). In early October of the same year for the first time succeeded at the World Championships in Antwerp the title on the rings to win.
