Artur Taymazov

Artur Borisovich Taimasow ( born July 20, 1979 in Ordzhonikidze, Soviet Union ) is an Uzbek wrestler in free style. He already won an Olympic silver medal in 2000 and was 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medalist and twice world champion. He is an ethnic Ossetian and not born in Uzbekistan, but was after his nationality change Uzbek most successful Olympian.

Career

Artur Taimasow began as a teenager in 1990 in Russia ( North Ossetia province ) Vladikavkaz with the rings in free style. He started at first for Russia. At the 2001 World Championships in Sofia Artur Taimasow missed his first world title just because he lost to victories over Yuri Chobitko, Ukraine, Sven Thiele, Germany, Abbas Jadidi, Iran and Alexis Rodríguez Valeri in the finals again against Dawid Mussulbes. Oh at the 2002 World Cup in Tehran, he failed to Dawid Mussilbes because he lost there after beating Peter Pecha, Slovakia and Mirko Siaian, Switzerland against this wrestler and thus came only on the 8th Place. Disappointing for Artur Taimasow ran the 2005 World Championships in Budapest. He won there via Raymond Rusland from Suriname, but lost already in his next fight against Rareş Daniel Chintojan from Romania, left and only came on the 10th Place. A better prepared Artur Taimasow then went at the 2006 World Championships in Guangzhou at the start. He dominated the field and has been with wins over Cuba Jose Vazquez, Spain, Ruslan Basijew, Armenia, Otto Aubeli, Hungary, Recep Kara, Turkey and Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow for the second time world champion. He also won this year again at the Asian Games, held in Doha, before Fardin Masoumi Valadi from Iran.

In 2007 he was at the World Championships in Baku his title defense is unsuccessful, since he there after victories over Rareş Daniel Chintojan, David Vala, Czech Republic, Fardin Masoumi Valadi, Ali Isayev, Azerbaijan and Thomas Rowlands, United States, against Alexis Rodríguez Valera lost and therefore only came to 3rd place.
