Like its predecessor, the RS4 was only equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and permanent four-wheel drive ( quattro ). Despite the relatively high curb weight of 1620 kg, the car accelerates in just 4.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h

By using a direct injection ( FSI), a high compression ratio ( 12.5:1 at Super Plus) and friction-optimized engine components makes the eight-cylinder 309 kW (420 hp) at 7800 min -1 and outputs a torque of 430 Nm at 5500 min - 1 from (90 % of which are 2250-7600 min-1 available ).
Unlike its predecessor, the all-wheel drive ( quattro ) has this RS4 an asymmetric force distribution in the ratio of 40 ( front ) 60 ( rear axle). The RS4 was only available with a manual six- speed gearbox.
