Azerbaijan First Division

The Birinci Divizionu is the second highest football league in Azerbaijan. It was founded in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

History

The league started after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992 as the second- highest division after Premyer Liqasi. First, it took place in two regional groups to the 1993/94 season. Since the 1994/95 season the league will be played single track.

The League are in the 2012/13 season to fourteen teams, identify a climber in the Premyer Liqasi. In addition, the runner has the opportunity to qualify in relegation matches against second-bottom of the Premyer Liqasi for the first league. The League is from the AFFA, the Azerbaijani football federation aligned.
