Bertrand Baguette

Bertrand Baguette ( born February 23, 1986 in Verviers ) is a Belgian racing driver. It was 2009 champion of the Formula Renault 3.5. In 2012 he starts in the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship ( WEC).

Career

Baguette began his motorsport career in karting in 2000, which he held until 2003. He then moved in 2004 to Formula racing and raced in the Belgian Formula Renault 1.6. He finished second in his debut season in which he started for the team of his compatriot Marc Goossens, with two wins third overall. 2005 moved baguette in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, where he went to the start two years for Epsilon Euskadi. After eighth place in the first season, he was fourth in the 2006 standings. In addition Baguette went to the two years in the French Formula Renault at the start. There he reached the rankings eleven and eight.

2007 moved baguette in the Formula Renault 3.5. For starting KTR he was 17th in the overall standings. In the following season baguette remained in the Formula Renault 3.5 and switched to Draco Racing. With a win at his home race at Spa- Francorchamps, he was seventh in the overall standings. In addition, baguette started in some races in the Superleague Formula and in GT racing series. 2009 remained baguette with Draco Racing and denied his third season in Formula Renault 3.5. With three victories succeeded baguette the championship title of the series already to win a race weekend before the end. End of the season in Alcaniz, he won both races.

As a reward for winning the championship in the Formula Renault 3.5 Baguette received in December 2009, the opportunity for Renault to complete F1 Formula 1 test drives. He also contested the last Formula 1 test day of the BMW Sauber team. After he had received no cockpit in Formula 1, located baguette decided in the IndyCar Series switch. He started from the third race of the season for Conquest Racing, the team of his compatriot Eric Bachelaert. With a tenth place as the best result he finished at the end of the season 22 overall. 2011 was not a baguette cockpit for a full season and Rahal Letterman Lanigan, he moved to Racing, for which he took part in the Indianapolis 500. He finished the race in seventh place and finished the season in 39th place overall. He also took part in two races of the FIA GT1 World Championship for the Marc VDS Racing Team. Together with his team-mate Maxime Martin, he finished a race in third place.

2012 baguette changes in the long-distance sports and compete for OAK Racing in the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship ( WEC).
