Bondeno

Bondeno is a small town with 14,864 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Ferrara in the Emilia- Romagna region of northern Italy.

Geographical location

The city is located 19 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Ferrara, south of the town, where the river empties into the Po Panaro.

History

The city is the center of an agricultural area that was once famous for the cultivation of high quality hemp. Previously the area between the Countess Matilde di Canossa and the Estensi was divided. Today is grown in the region include water melons.
