Broken, Beat & Scarred (German: broken, beaten and scarred ) is a song by heavy metal band Metallica. It is the 45th single by the band and the sixth single from the ninth studio album, Death Magnetic. She appeared on April 3, 2009. There are two versions of the single, a Digi- Single and a maxi-single. In addition, there exists a video of Wayne Isham.

History

About the song titles, the band was initially disagree. James Hetfield found him too long, but Lars Ulrich was in the process remained " very stubborn ".

On 19 March 2009, the band had announced on their website that Broken, Beat & Scarred would be the next single. On March 26, the new video was presented. It shows the band live on the Death Magnetic tour. Director Wayne Isham had already worked several times for the band, such as in the DVD Cunning Stunts.

In Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand the single was partially delivered with incorrect booklet. The band announced, no one from the band was there, checked the artwork and described the version as " collectible ".

Lyrics

The lyrics of the song, which was written by James Hetfield is ajar with the line " What do not kill you make you more strong" to a well-known quote by Friedrich Nietzsche: "What does not kill me makes me stronger." It comes from the factory Twilight of the Idols or How to philosophize with a hammer in 1889.

Reception

The DVD single was called on Metal.de as a " disappointment ". Was criticized, among other things, the low information value of the documentation contained therein. The live video to Broken, Beat & Scarred but had succeeded.
